The area under forests will be extended up to 15% of the territory of the Republic of Moldova
The Prime Minister, Chiril Gaburici, has participated today at the International Conference "Environment and Climate Change: from vision to action". The event dedicated to the Environment World Day was organized at the Palace of Republic.
In his speech, the Prime Minister mentioned that the Government Activity Program for 2015-2018 provides for specific objectives related to environment protection. "We would like, first of all, to undertake a number of institutional and functional reforms in the sector. It is important to create optimal preconditions for mainstreaming the principle of sustainable development, green economic development and climate changes in all the sectors of the national economy. And last but not least, we would like to increase through different methods the level of citizens' ecological education", said the Head of the Executive.
At the same time, the Prime Minister also mentioned other actions envisaged in the Activity Program, such as extension of forests' area up to 15% of the territory of the country, assurance of an efficient and sustainable management of natural eco-systems, destruction of very dangerous pesticides stored on the territory of the Republic of Moldova. "In this respect, the Government continues the dialogue with the NATO to finalize this project. Environment health is equivalent to people's health. That's why we should not allow ourselves to have failures in this respect", stated Chiril Gaburici.
The Prime Minister has congratulated the employees from the environment protection area with the occasion of the Environment World Day and awarded diplomas to those who got actively involved in promoting actions of environment protection. "I wish you to be performant and healthy in a healthy ecological environment!" told Chiril Gaburici to employees.
During the event organized today, the representatives of local administrations, business environment and civil society discussed also about other topics of major importance: assurance of environment protection, rational use of natural resources, improvement of environment quality, decreasing climate change phenomenon.
