R. Moldova and Romania discussed the modalities of intensifying the bilateral relations in the environment area
Chisinau, 4 June /MOLDPRES/. Minister of Environment, Sergiu Palihovici, and his counterpart from Romania, Graţiela Gavrilescu, Minister of Environment, Water and Forests, discussed over the last days in Bucharest different issues related to amplifying the bilateral collaboration in the environment area, communicates MOLDPRES.
The meeting of the two ministers was part of the visit undertaken by Sergiu Palihovici in Romania, during June 2-3, where he has attended events dedicated to the Environment World Day celebrated under the topic "Seven billions of dreams, once single planet. Let's consume moderately ".
The officials discussed about the support provided by Romania to the Republic of Moldova via the Agreement for implementing the Program of Technical and Financial Assistance based on the non-reimbursable assistance for one hundred million Euro. The parties decided to urge the internal procedures for the entry into force of the III Additional Protocol to this Agreement, which provides for the allocation of 15 mln Euro for the environmental sector in our country. This would allow reorienting priorities and updating the list of projects in the context of the EU-RM Association Agreement and the current geopolitical situation.
Palihovici suggested for the next meeting of the Mixt Commission to be held in Chisinau, before the month of October of the current year. At the same time, the Romanian Minister Graţiela Gavrilescu was invited to undertake an official visit in the R. Moldova during July 16-18.
The Program of the Moldovan Minister of Environment in Bucharest included meetings with Valeriu Zgonea, The Chair of MPs' Chamber of Romania and Marius Nica, Minister of European Funds. As well, Sergiu Palihovici has participated in the action "Culture Cart" which is part of the Project on innovative proposals developed by the Green Revolution Association, with the support of the Administration of Lakes, Parks and Recreation, Bucharest.
The official visit of the minister ended with a visit to the treatment station from Constanța Nord, where he got acquainted with the experience of the Romanian peers on regionalization of water supply and sewerage services.
