The inter-ministerial Working Group will coordinate, facilitate, and monitor the activity of the governmental agencies, central public administration, scientific institutions and public associations, focused on promoting principles of sustainable development and green economy in the Republic of Moldova.
The composition of the Working Group will include representatives from the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Transport and Roads Infrastructure, Ministry of Regional Development and Constructions, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, Institute of Ecology and Geography of MAS, National Institute of Economic Research of MAS, Public Association EcoContact, National Bureau of Statistics, and Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
According to the Regulation approved via the same order, the Working Group will have different tasks and the role to coordinate and facilitate the process of development, implementation, and monitoring the inter-ministerial Roadmap to promote green economy in the Republic of Moldova, to identify short- and mid-term actions, financing sources, costs and periods of implementation.
It should be noted that the establishment of a common platform for dialogue for all stakeholders involved in promoting sustainable development and the green economy is one of the goals of the Project "Strengthening capacities to undertake the environmental fiscal reform to meet national and global priorities", implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Moldova, and funded by the Global Environmental Facility (GEF). According to the Project Manager Mihai Roșcovan, the establishment of this Working Group is a good precondition to set up a sustainable platform for implementing the Environmental Fiscal Reform, which will be integrated with policy documents and environmental strategies of the different sectors.
