      Social Good Summit 2015 in the Republic of Moldova focuses on the new Sustainable Development Goals
      To raise awareness around the newly adopted Sustainable Development Goals, the United Nations Development Programme in Moldova partnered with the Ministry of Education to hold the Social Good Summit 2015 featuring Innovation for education.“The Social Good Summit is a flagship event for UNDP,” said UNDP Administrator Helen Clark. “We plan to use the Social Good Summit’s platform and audience to help governments and partners launch the Sustainable Development Goals to help make the new Global Goals a household name everywhere.”

      Today, Environment Minister Valeriu Munteanu had a meeting with the representative of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Moldova, Mr. Victor Cotruţă and management consultant of the Global Environmental Fund (GEF), Mr. Jean-Joseph Bellamy. The discussion focused on the implementation of the environmental tax reform project, which has started in 2012 and will end this month.

      Territorial and land-use planning will take into account biodiversity conservation
      The Ministry of Environment, with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is launching a project meant to support biodiversity conservation, by mainstreaming these aspects into Moldova’s territorial and land-use planning policies. With a budget of almost 1 million USD provided by the Global Environment Facility, the Project will last for four years: 2015-2019.

    • A Moldovan delegation is studying Polish experience in environmental protection

The UNDP-GEF project “Environmental Fiscal Reform” organizes between the 17th and the 22nd of August 2015, a study visit to Poland for the Moldova’s local authority’s representatives. The aim is to study the Polish experience regarding funds, taxes and environmental policies.

      SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES // Innovation brings local authorities closer to citizens
      Four Moldovan communities will engage innovative solutions to address local challenges and respond to citizens’ needs. The Government of Denmark, through the Joint Integrated Local Development Programme (JILDP), will provide support to those communities by offering five thousand USD grants to each of them. Also, Moldova Social Innovation Hub will assist the communities in designing the innovative solutions.

    • Second round of grants to promote business innovations: deadline 22 August 2015
      The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Moldova announces the launching of the second round of grants competition for small and medium enterprises willing to apply innovations in their businesses. The maximum grant amount is USD 8,000 or 60% of the total budget of the project, the applicant covering not less than 40% of the total value.

      The European Union Reimbursing the Procurement Cost of Biomass Boilers Designed for Households, Micro- and Small businesses
      3 August, Chisinau - The EU funded Moldova Energy and Biomass Project is launching, in partnership with the Energy Efficiency Agency, a Subsidy Program for the Procurement of Biomass Boilers designed for Households, Micro- and Small Enterprises. The subsidy amount is 1,300 Euro and 700 Euro, set-up depending on the technical parameters of the selected boiler.     • Chisinau Municipality Representatives and Engineering Companies are trained in Energy Performance Contracting
      In the period of 28-30 July, 35 specialists from central and local public authority professionals as well as engineering company experts attended two trainings conducted by ESCO Moldova Project dealing with the implementation of Energy Performance Contracts. Energy Service Company (ESCO) is private business unit that provides integrated financial and technical solutions for achieving energy cost reductions (energy savings), and whose overall compensations are linked to the performance (Energy Performance Contract) of the implemented solutions.

      Moldovan mayors learn from the Polish experience in Local Economic Development
      Mayors of 12 communities in Moldova went on a study tour to Poland between July 19-24, 2015, to learn from the successful practices in local economic development. The visit was organized by the Joint Integrated Local Development Programme (JILDP).The mayors visited eight communes and smaller and larger towns in the region of Lublin, Poland. There they seen various types of businesses, such as craft workshop, fruit drying facility, horse breeding farm, green energy use areas, waste sorting plant, culture houses that also serve as community centers, scientific technological parks and business incubators.

    • The "Environmental Fiscal Reform" UNDP-GEF Project at the last implementation stage
      The UNDP-GEF Project „Strengthening capacities to undertake environmental fiscal reform” held a Steering Committee Meeting on 21 July 2015, at the Ministry of Environment. The Project presented its Progress Report for the first semester of the current year and has approved the Work Plan for the second semester, and the amount of grants for local environmental projects.
